Digital Agronomist – Precision Nitrogen & Farming Success
Part-time (≈20 h/week) | Hybrid | Darmstadt, Hessen
About us
We are a 10-year-old, revenue-funded AgTech company based in Darmstadt, Germany. We support farming operations in German-speaking Europe with agronomically sound, satellite-based variable-rate nitrogen recommendations, soil stratification for optimized sampling (precision farming and carbon mapping), and digital primary data collection for sustainability and Scope-3 projects.
Agronomy is the foundation of our work. Technology enables scale — but farming success comes from correct agronomic decisions, clear communication, and trust across the agricultural ecosystem.
Your role
As a Digital Agronomist – Farming Success, you are responsible for ensuring that our nitrogen recommendations are understood, trusted, and correctly applied in practice.
You work not only with farmers, but across the entire farming ecosystem:
agricultural consulting companies, soil testing and sampling providers, contractors, machinery and terminal partners, and other advisors involved in fertilization decisions.
You are the agronomic reference point in Germany and work closely with product development, machine-learning engineers, marketing, and management.
Key responsibilities
Provide professional agronomic advisory on nitrogen fertilization for arable crops (especially cereals + OSR + Corn), based on our variable-rate recommendations.
Discuss fertilization strategies, crop development, soil conditions, and field variability with:
Farmers
Agricultural consulting companies and independent advisors
Soil testing and soil sampling providers
Contractors and machinery / terminal partners involved in application
Interpret satellite-based nitrogen maps and explain rate logic, management zones, assumptions, and limitations in a transparent and agronomically fair way.
Onclarify onboarding and support for new customers coming via Meta (Facebook / Instagram) leads — including phone calls, onboarding conversations, and seasonal support.
Support farmers and consultants during the season with questions on timing, application strategy, and interpretation of results.
Coordinate agronomic workflows related to soil stratification and sampling with labs and sampling companies.
Act as agronomic contact for partners when questions relate to recommendation logic and application strategy (not hardware troubleshooting).
Ensure consistent agronomic messaging across farmers, consultants, and partners.
Document agronomic processes, explanations, and recurring questions (SOPs, FAQs).
Provide structured feedback from the field to product and ML teams to improve recommendations and workflows.
Contribute agronomy-focused content (short articles, explanations, case examples) in collaboration with marketing.
Required qualifications
Excellent professional German (C2 or equivalent), required for advisory work with farmers and agricultural partners.
Fluent English for internal collaboration.
At least 3 years of professional agronomic experience, preferably in:
Nitrogen fertilization and nutrient management
Arable cropping systems (especially cereals + OSR + Corn)
Strong belief in precision farming and site-specific fertilization.
Ability to explain complex agronomic topics clearly to different stakeholders (farmers, consultants, contractors).
Comfortable with direct phone communication — with farmers and professional partners alike.
Willingness to work with flexible hours aligned with agricultural practice
(balanced by flexible scheduling; not overtime culture).Residence in Hessen with ability to come to the Darmstadt office few days per week.
Willingness to commit to at least few agricultural seasons.
Advantageous
Practical farming background.
Experience working with agricultural consultants, laboratories, contractors, or service providers.
Familiarity with variable-rate fertilization, soil sampling, or precision farming tools.
Interest in sustainability topics such as carbon farming or Scope-3 reporting.
Openness to working with modern digital tools, including LLM-based systems.
What we offer
Part-time position (≈20 h/week) with a high degree of flexibility and trust.
Hybrid working model with a small, experienced international team.
High agronomic responsibility and direct influence on real farming decisions.
Close collaboration with product, ML, and management teams.
Long-term collaboration in a stable, non-VC-funded company.
Competitive compensation aligned with experience.
When to start
As soon as possible. The European cropping season has already started, and we aim to onboard the right person quickly. We understand notice periods and will align onboarding pragmatically.
